Audio Cutter
Two ways to use the audio cutter
Keep a selection
Drag the two handles on the waveform, or type the start and end in seconds to the hundredth, and everything outside them is dropped: that is how a ringtone or a 30-second clip for a video is made. Click the waveform to play the original from that moment and hear where an edge belongs, zoom up to 32x to put it on a beat, and preview the result on a loop, with a line on the waveform showing where it plays, until the edges sit right.
Remove a section from the middle
Select a cough, a false start or a verse you do not want and the cutter joins what is left; the waveform greys out what goes. Add more clips to take out several parts in one pass. Each join is crossfaded over 10 milliseconds, short enough not to blur a beat and long enough to avoid the click a hard splice makes, and Preview join plays the three seconds either side of it so you hear the splice on its own.
Fade the edges
A cut in the middle of a phrase ends abruptly. Fade in and fade out run up to 10 seconds each, in steps of a tenth of a second, so a trimmed clip starts and stops the way a finished track does.
Cut audio in three steps
Open a file or record
Choose an audio file up to 90 MB and 15 minutes, record from the microphone, or try the example track. The waveform shows where the loud and quiet parts are.
Set the cut
Move the handles or type exact times, choose keep or remove, and add fades. The result length updates as you go.
Preview and export
Preview plays the exact audio that will be exported. Export as MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A or AAC, in stereo or mono: MP3 at 128 to 320 kbps, WAV and FLAC in every browser, OGG (Opus), M4A and AAC where the browser has the encoder.
What the cutter does
Audio cutter precision and limits
Start and end can be typed to the hundredth of a second, on a waveform that zooms up to 32x.
Keep the selected clip or all of them, as files in one ZIP, or cut every clip out and join the rest.
Separate fade in and fade out, each up to 10 seconds.
MP3, WAV and FLAC in every browser, and OGG (Opus), M4A and AAC where the browser has the encoder, made with no upload and no credits.
