Upload Audio and Choose an Action

Bring your own recording into the AI Music Generator, then extend it, cover it, add vocals or an instrumental, replace a section or mash it up — and which action needs which kind of source.

The AI Music Generator can start from a recording of yours instead of a text description. An uploaded song lands in My Music like a generated one, and every remix action works on it.

Upload a recording

  1. In the generator, choose Audio (Use your own audio).
  2. Drop a file or click to upload. Accepted: MP3, WAV, OGG, AAC, FLAC and M4A, up to 50 MB and up to 8 minutes.
  3. Choose what happens next:
    • Upload only adds it to your library to extend, cover or add to later.
    • Create from audio opens it straight in a cover or an extension.

Uploads are checked against known recordings. A file that matches an existing commercial recording is refused, so use a recording you made or have the rights to.

The actions, and what each needs

Open the song's Remix menu (or pick it as the source in the generator) and choose an action. Each one creates a new version; the original song is kept.

ActionWhat it doesSource it needs
ExtendContinues the song from a point you choose.Any song or upload
CoverRe-performs the song in a new style, keeping its melody.Any song or upload
Add vocalsWrites and sings a vocal over the music. An instrumental
Add instrumentalBuilds a backing track under the voice.A vocal track
Replace sectionRewrites one part of the song with new lyrics.A vocal song whose full lyrics exist
MashupBlends two songs into one new track. Two songs

If an action is greyed out, the song is the wrong kind of source for it — for example, Add vocals on a song that already has a vocal. Songs made with an earlier version of the music engine can be played and downloaded but not used as a source.

Each action is a generation and draws credits like one; the button shows the cost before you start, and Credits and Plans lists every rate.

Tips for a clean result

  • Upload the cleanest version you have. Hiss, clipping and room noise are carried into an extension or a cover.
  • For Add vocals, an instrumental with a clear structure (intro, verse, chorus) gives the vocal something to follow.
  • For Add instrumental, a dry vocal without reverb or a backing track works best; run the AI Vocal Remover first if your recording has music under it.
