Account Security and Sign-in

Every control on the Security settings page: passwords, passkeys, an authenticator app with backup codes, active sessions, the 90-day sign-in history, connected accounts and deleting your account.

Everything that protects your account is on one page: Settings → Security. Changes that affect security ask you to confirm it's you first, with a code sent to your email, a code from your authenticator app, or one of your backup codes.

Ways to sign in

  • Email code. Enter your email and the code we send. This always stays available.
  • Social account. Under Connected accounts, link a social account to sign in with one click, or remove one you no longer use.
  • Password. Set or change it under Change Password; use at least 8 characters. Changing it signs you out on every other device. If you forget it, Reset Password emails you a link.
  • Passkey. Sign in with your fingerprint, face or device PIN instead of an email code. A passkey works only on this site.

Add a second step

Turn on Authenticator app to require a 6-digit code from an app such as Google Authenticator, 1Password or Authy after you sign in:

  1. If your account has a password, enter it to start.
  2. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app.
  3. Enter the 6-digit code the app shows.
  4. Save the backup codes. Each one signs you in once if you lose your phone, and they are shown only this one time.

Check where you're signed in

  • Active Sessions lists the devices signed in to your account right now. Sign out of every other device if you see one you don't recognize.
  • Recent logins shows every sign-in from the last 90 days, newest first: the device, where it came from, when, and how you signed in.

If a sign-in looks wrong, sign out of the other devices, change your password if you have one, and turn on the authenticator app.

Delete your account

Delete Account permanently removes your account and everything in it, and it cannot be undone. An active subscription is canceled first. We email you a confirmation link, and nothing is deleted until you click it. Download any songs you want to keep before you confirm; Find, Share and Download Songs explains how.
